debian/usb-modeswitch-data.maintscript is processed by dh_installdeb at build time, to produce all the dpkg-maintscript-helper snippets in the maintainer scripts (see /var/lib/dpkg/info/usb-modeswitch-data.postinst e.g.). -- OdyX
