Ouch, it does not build with R 2.13.0~20110324-1 (sid) or 2.12.2-1 (wheezy).
Upgrading to latest upstream version 1.6-5 will solve the problem, see the
changelog:

commented S4methods... in NAMESPACE to meet the
request from the R-team;
