Package: lists.debian.org Severity: wishlist
Hi, at the moment the code of conduct contains: | When replying to messages on the mailing list, do not send a carbon | copy (CC) to the original poster unless they explicitly request to be | copied. There is a recent thread[1] on debian-project in which everyone replying violated above quoted rule (although the "common sense" rule might make this violation void). I hope we agree that in this case sending the carbon copies was appropriate. Please consider adapting above rule to a less strict variant, e.g.: * In general, when replying to messages on the mailing list, do not send a carbon copy (CC) to the original poster unless they explicitly request to be copied. * Because some new Debian users (i.e., not Debian Developers nor people posting to Debian lists regularly) might expect to get a carbon copy even without explicitly requesting one, sending a CC to them could be appropriate in rare cases. Additionally the following could be added: * Explicitly setting Mail-Followup-To: to the list's address reduces the chance to wrongly receive an unwanted carbon copy.
