Package: screen
Version: 4.0.3-14
Severity: wishlist

The fix seems to be available in upstream repository, (have not tried it
though):

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/screen-users/2009-12/msg00116.html

So, all is needed is to cherry-pick a couple of commits, or simpy
release new version from the HEAD.
