In the upstream Git repository, there is a branch for Python 3. There is at least one project that can use it: python3-sleekxmpp (it has a fallback for when it is no available, but it is not powerful enough to be correctly usable (missing SRV records resolution, which is blocking for Jabber stuff)). Could you package python3-dnspython? This wouls probably be another source package given that it is a distinct Git branch. I can help if you want.
