Here it is :-) Only an event device file was missed. Debian has no
device handler installed by default and I think this was the cause of
our trouble.
Now after you have created the missing files it works but I
recommend to install udev if you use kernel 2.6. If you still use
kernel 2.4, let it as it is. Udev will only work on kernel 2.6.

After our short discussion I reviewed my code and found a solution to
take the left mouse button into account again without breaking some of
the other features. :-) The next version will contain the change. Thanks
for your patience and assistance.
I think the bug report is done, isn't it? I will forward this mail to the
debian bug tracker to close it.
