Package: hostapd Version: 1:0.4.2-1 Severity: important Debian hostapd does not work well with recent madwifi drivers. madwifi was taken from the Kanonix project (version of madwifi-source is 0.1+cvs20050816-6).
When WPA-PSK is turned on, client cannot get it configuration through the DHCP (after WPA-PSK authentication is over). Ethereal on the client shows that the packets are transmitted, but tcpdump on the AP does not show any DHCP packet. The following was tried: 1) Updating to the 0.4.4 upstream version. This did not help. Actually, I think this step is not required. 2) Updating madwifi includes in the Hostapd source package (20_madwifi_headers.dpatch) to the includes from the madwifi CVS. The files updated: driver_madwifi/compat.h driver_madwifi/net80211/_ieee80211.h (actually, it was added) driver_madwifi/net80211/ieee80211.h driver_madwifi/net80211/ieee80211_crypto.h driver_madwifi/net80211/ieee80211_ioctl.h This helped, WPA-PSK is now working. So the problem seems to be in the outdated madwifi headers in the hostapd package. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-386 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages hostapd depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libssl0.9.7 0.9.7e-3 SSL shared libraries -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
