This is, AFAICT, a consequence of: http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2011/03/msg00015.html I do agree, it is a somwhat extreme situation: oldstable with pinned unstable. For me useful, as I can easily look att package version numbers and descriptions. Historically, I also used this to port newer package versions to lenny. That is harder to do now, but not impossible. Workaround is to remove 'unstable' from sources.list. Eventually, I will upgrade to squeeze and try to reinstate pinned unstable. -- Package-specific info: -- /etc/apt/preferences -- Package: * Pin: release a=unstable Pin-Priority: 99 -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.8 APT prefers oldstable APT policy: (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686-bigmem (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE= (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages apt depends on: ii debian-archive-keyring 2010.08.28~lenny1 GnuPG archive keys of the Debian a ii libc6 2.7-18lenny7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.3.2-1.1 GCC support library ii libstdc++6 4.3.2-1.1 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 apt recommends no packages.
