OK, I'll request it. I notice that a bug has been filed against apt asking for a way to disable requests for InRelease files, since lots of mirrors aren't handling them correctly. It would be easy for me to add a similar option to approx to deny requests for InRelease, forcing the client to fall back to Release + Release.gpg.
