A simple reinstall of the wicd package didn't work. I had to remove the /var/log/wicd directory. Then it was recreated with correct permissions: drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2011-05-09 02:37:36 /var/log/wicd I wonder whether many users are affected by this problem.
