I do not want to help by sponsoring the package, as a general principle: 
Too often I have found that packages maintained solely by "outsiders" 
and included through the sponsorship mechanism is badly maintained.

I would, however, love to help by working together with you as a team!

It might seem similar to you, but makes a world of difference to me: 
Please consider joining the Debian Multimedia Developers team and have 
the mpd-sima package maintained there - I am sure you will find that we 
are a nice gang to hang out with! ;-)

Not sure what you mean by "default action" - does thatpending packaging 
by default create that user and register a sysV daemon script?

...or do you simply mean that this is the intended design of the tool - 
but still requires the local user to setup manually?
