The 275.09.04 driver in experimental won't install in Squeeze due to unmet dependencies, so I downloaded it from nVidia to try it. Same result.
Unfortunately, all my correspondence with nVidia is via email with Daniel Dadap, but I can give you an update thus far: It is being assumed that this is nothing more than an incorrect reading which is also causing the cooling fans to work overtime. I am currently arranging for some tests to measure the physical temperature to correctly diagnose the fault, i.e. incorrect reading or higher physical idle temperature. A hardware fault is ruled out as the 195 series drivers perform as expected.
