Does it work if you use this driver ?
This is a postscript printer so a postscript driver should work and use the least resources. However, I am using the Gutenprint driver in absence of any saner working driver. Using hplip which was made for Inkjets with an ancient PostScript/PCL printer seems somewhat odd but if the driver suffers from severe feature creep it might work as well.
