I have a similar issue with virtualenvwrapper 2.7.1 and python-pkg-resources 0.6.16. I filed tickets in both upstream issue trackers at [1] and [2]. I don't get the issue on another system using virtualenvwrapper 2.7.1 and python-pkg-resources 0.6.14.
