Package: ack-grep Version: 1.92-1 Severity: wishlist
Upstream helpfully suggests[0]: To install ack-grep as "ack" instead of "ack-grep", use this command: sudo dpkg-divert --local --divert /usr/bin/ack --rename --add /usr/bin/ack-grep Since I can't imagine ever wanting to install: ack - Kanji code converter I applied this advice. Unfortunately, ack doesn't check $0 for the actual program name, hardwiring it instead. This leads to aesthetically displeasing results such as: $ ack --thppt _ /| \'o.O' =(___)= U ack-grep --thppt! I don't think Bill the Cat ever said that. :/ [0] http://betterthangrep.com/ -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages ack-grep depends on: ii libfile-next-perl 1.06-1 file-finding iterator ii perl 5.12.3-7 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ack-grep recommends no packages.
