Package: aide Version: 0.15.1-2 Severity: important I cannot initialize the aide database on a fresh Squeeze build. Running "aideinit" results in lines like the following:
Running aide --init... 471:Error in expression:Qe Configuration error AIDE --init return code 17 The characters that follow "Eror in expression" change from run to run, though they always seem to start with that inverse-text questionmark symbol. That text does not appear in /var/lib/aide/aide.conf.autogenerated, nor does there appear to be any special unicode character on line 471. Since I'm not seeing lots of bug reports on a completely broken AIDE, I can only assume there's something odd in my environment causing it, but it persists even after I remove all of my custom rulesets in aide.conf.d and forcibly remove /var/lib/aide/aide.conf.autogenerated. It happens on both i386 and amd64 Squeeze boxes. The version in Lenny (0.13.1-10) works fine. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (350, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages aide depends on: ii aide-common 0.15.1-2 Advanced Intrusion Detection Envir ii bsd-mailx 8.1.2-0.20100314cvs-1 simple mail user agent ii liblockfile1 1.08-4 NFS-safe locking library, includes ii ucf 3.0025+nmu1 Update Configuration File: preserv Versions of packages aide recommends: ii cron 3.0pl1-116 process scheduling daemon aide suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
