Package: unattended-upgrades Version: 0.62.2 Severity: normal Today unattended-upgrades upgraded a few of my machines to 6.0.2; this caused a greater than normal amount of packages to be upgraded.
The mail it sent out looked like this: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="===============0729576247==" --===============0729576247== Content-Type: application/octet-stream Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 VW5hdHRlbmRlZCB1cGdyYWRlIHJldHVybmVkOiBUcnVlCgpQYWNrYWdlcyB0aGF0IGFyZSB1 cGdyYWRlZDoKIGFwdCBhcHQtbGlzdGNoYW5nZXMgYXB0LXV0aWxzIGJhc2UtZmlsZXMgY29t ZXJyLWRldiBkYnVzIGRwa2cgCiBkcGtnLWRldiBlMmZzbGlicyBlMmZzcHJvZ3MgZmlybXdh ... etc --===============0729576247== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline _______________________________________________ blah mailing list [email protected] https://example.com/mailman/listinfo/blah --===============0729576247==-- With a content-type of application/octet-stream, Evolution didn't display the message as text, but as a binary attachment which I had to save out and open in a text editor. NB, the message from unattended-upgrades goes to a mailman mailing list. Maybe this has something to do with it. Normal messages don't get screwed up by mailman, however, so I am assuming that something about the message sent by unattended-upgrades changed. The most obvious thing is its size. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.2 APT prefers stable APT policy: (550, 'stable'), (540, 'stable-updates') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages unattended-upgrades depends on: ii apt 0.8.10.3+squeeze1 Advanced front-end for dpkg ii apt-utils 0.8.10.3+squeeze1 APT utility programs ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.36.1 Debian configuration management sy ii lsb-release 3.2-23.2squeeze1 Linux Standard Base version report ii python 2.6.6-3+squeeze6 interactive high-level object-orie ii python-apt 0.7.100.1+squeeze1 Python interface to libapt-pkg ii ucf 3.0025+nmu1 Update Configuration File: preserv unattended-upgrades recommends no packages.
