Perhaps you should use apt-proxy. If so, then probably you should use it (or several instances of it) to maintain several different mirrors.
You do not wish to mix old Knoppix with Squeeze, in case a client uses a package which is not compatible with its variant of operating system. There is more information at http://packages.debian.org/lenny/apt-proxy . If you wish to use it, then you had better keep a copy of the source code.
