mathgl build depends on (amongst others) "libhdf5-serial-dev | libhdf5-dev". However, if either libhdf5-lam-dev or libhdf5-mpi-dev or libhdf5-openpi-dev (all of which sastifies this build-dependency) is installed in the build environment, the package fails to build from source:
