If the group prefers some options, if wouldn't hurt to make them default in dh-make-perl regardles if their faith "upstream", right? Applying the defaults to all packages is another mater, but I guess it's not that much difficult either. IOW, I say promote the preference as a policy and modify the tools now. Later adaptation is always an option.
