Ah, sorry - I am working in texlive-base as well as -bin, and have just made a mental note "There have been patches to squeeze when it was in testing, don't forget to check they've been applied to trunk, too". As for the patches, I think they are okay - if that strange issue is resolved that I found yesterday and asked in that mail to -devel (written offline, so sent only just a minute ago).
