This sounds strange. dpkg wildcards are well tried already, there are 230 packages in unstable using either linux-any, kfreebsd-any or any-i386. Some of them are core packages (e.g. eglibc, dpkg, ncurses). Can you be more specific about the issues with claws-mail? > If you are sure it works now I'll be happy to switch back, I was reported that some old versions of pbuilder have trouble with it.
