reopen 314498 thanks I'm reopening this becase I have this problem and I suspect that many others do too. It manifets in at least two ways on my system, firstly /dev/null is mode 600, and secondly, I can't log into X as a non-root user, though I was unable to determine exactly why.
Adding the symlinc from /etc/udev/permissions.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/020_permissions.rules resolves the problem. Perhaps udev changed its defaults, or used to use /etc/udev/permissions.rules, but doesn't any more. In any case without this symlink, a udev 0.068-2 + linux-image-2.6.12-1-686-smp 2.6.12-6 has the problems describe above. Please let me know what information you need to help resolve this problem. -- Horms -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
