Package: logrotate
Version: 3.7.8-6
Severity: normal

For months I've been getting zombie logrotate processes. Some
googling finds bugs like bug#474114 (stunnel4) and bug#419992
(lighttpd), both of which should be fixed by now. I see several of my
logrotate.d entries have postrotate clauses, but it's hard to know
what to know how to debug the problem without laboriously disabling
one and waiting for it to be fixed (or not) on the nightly run.
Running logrotate from the command line works fine & produces no
output (dependant on the age of the log files in question I suppose).
Regardless of which package is at fault here, I think it's an
architectural bug if it's so easy for a client to produce a hang. At
the least, having a debugging guide for this sort of problem would be
very helpful: groveling around in /proc looking at file descriptors
didn't give me at least any indication of where the problem might be.
