Synaptic allways dies when applying packagechanges.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start synaptic
2. Mark one or more packages for installtion and/or removal.
3. Apply the changes.

Result: Synaptic just dies, if started from the console the following output is
displayed:

nms@debian:~$ gksu synaptic

(synaptic:3601): Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string passed to
pango_layout_set_text()

pango_layout_set_text()

(synaptic:3601): Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string passed to
pango_layout_set_text()
Segmentation fault
nms@debian:~$

Using kdesudo instead gives the same result (synaptic dies), but the
"Segamentation fault" line is not printed:
nms@debian:~$ kdesudo synaptic

(synaptic:3381): Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string passed to

nms@debian:~$

Installing the same packages using "sudo apt-get install" works.
