I'm seeing this too on a squeeze box.
In my case, I don't touch /etc/nsswitch.conf. I have it identical to
/usr/share/base-files/nsswitch.conf. For me, commenting out the line:
+auto.master
from /etc/auto.master resolved that problem. I do have two entries:
mount-point map
at the end of /etc/auto.master, which I can now access without any
complains from automount.
Can anyone explain what the point with that line:
+auto.master
is. I read the auto.master(5) man page, but it is not clear to me
what the above line is useful for.
