You're right. Unfortunately, I haven't had a lot of time to work with that. I would be *very* happy to receive patches from you (or others) on this subject. You can find the darcs repo for it at http://darcs.complete.org/darcs-buildpackage. Please feel free to "darcs send" patches to me, or I'll take regular diffs as well. I do hope to get to this myself at some point, but I've got a problem finding enough of that finite resource of time.
