Hi! I'm the person taking care of the Debian version of ximian-connector/evolution-exchange, I've yet to spend much time on 2.4.x. Sebastien Bacher appears to be responsible for this package in Ubuntu. I've been tracking a bug that sounds similar in Debian but with a previous version (2.2.3-3). http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=316495 I'm pretty sure that this is a odd interaction with ldap, and would suggest checking what version of libldap2 is installed. Debian's version 2.1.30-11 seems to work. As a second suggestion I would try looking at the well hidden but funtional ximian-connector-setup-2.4 program. (The 2.4 part is a guess.)
