I am also confirming this, on a fresh wheezy (testing) installation the same problem occurs with Firefox 6.0. 

Using :
LD_PRELOAD="/usr/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/libfile.so" Applications/firefox/firefox 

solves the problem, but this is not a viable solution.
