git-import-orig's --uscan options always leaves the orig tarball (and a symlink) in ../, since do_uscan() has the options hardcoded: ['uscan', '--symlink', '--destdir=..', '--dehs'] (I'd prefer --rename over --symlink but that's a matter of taste.) But the hardcoded --destdir looks improvable to me, since there is already a tarball-dir option for .gbp.conf; I guess it's only used by git-buildpackage to look for the orig.tar.gz at the moment, but it might be easy to also use it for git-import-orig to place the tarball right there.
