and I can print from Iceweasel.

Here are the error logs on the CUPS server when doing a lpq with
the cups 1.5.0-5 Debian packages.

I had opened a bug upstream:

  http://www.cups.org/str.php?L3920+P0+S-2+C0+I0+E0+M20+Q

but now I'm wondering whether this could be related to an
inconsistency between libcups and the SSL-related libraries
in the Debian packages.

According to lsof, firefox-bin also uses
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcups.so.2 and there are no printing
problems with it. So, it may be something more complicated than
the library itself.
