:) Just for the record, not that I was against a high-level package manager do these additional things, what I did (and do) not like is the inconsistent behavior: 'iW' state was enough for Depends, but not enough for Pre-Depends. That clearly sounded like a bug so I reported it. If that discussion was started today, I'd probably vote for the disabling that "trigger care" in dpkg altogether for all dependencies. That would probably break '--no-triggers' in some high-level package manager instantly, but then the proper, therightwayishâ„¢ implementation could be rolled. But after all, this case is finally coming to the end, which is good. Theoretically dpkg can receive a new option to disable the trigger care entirely, but I don't expect someone will be interested to do that. -- Eugene V.
