Unfortunately I'm unable to reproduce the bug, I successfully uploaded a photo to gallery.debconf.org. Could you please test if the problem is still there? In any case, if I should guess a diagnosis, it would be that 1) the url rewriting mechanism at gallery.dc.org was put in place and then tested with some urls, but for some reason didn't work on urls that are only used by the protocol which communicates with stand-alone apps 2) the configuration problem was now solved, but let me know if you can confirm this...
