To solve the problem (for me). > sudo apt-get remove postgresql-client-8.4 postgresql-client-9.0 ... > sudo update-alternatives --auto psql update-alternatives: warning: alternative /usr/share/postgresql/8.4/man/man1/psql.1.gz (part of link group psql) doesn't exist. Removing from list of alternatives. update-alternatives: warning: alternative /usr/share/postgresql/9.0/man/man1/psql.1.gz (part of link group psql) doesn't exist. Removing from list of alternatives. update-alternatives: warning: /etc/alternatives/psql is dangling, it will be updated with best choice. There is no program which provides psql.
This then allowed postgresql-client-9.1 to be installed. And revealed that postgresql-9.1has the same problem: update-alternatives: error: alternative link /usr/share/man/man1/postmaster.1.gz is already managed by postmaster. dpkg: error processing postgresql-9.1 (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 configured to not write apport reports The same process fixed that problem too. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
