Just as a matter of notice. It is not building in-tree, but uses a parameter for the configure script to indicate the location of the necessary includes, which have to be extracted from the source package before.

These aren't intended to be accessed from outside the source tree in 5.1. Plugins that need these things must build in-tree. The full build directory to enable this is available in the 'mysql-source-5.1' binary package. Take a look at the handlersocket packaging to see how this can be used.
