Package: powernowd
Version: 0.96-2
Severity: wishlist
File: /usr/share/doc/powernowd/README.Debian
The advice in README.Debian is not good enough:
# dpkg -i powernowd_0.96-2_i386.deb
Setting up powernowd (0.96-2) ...
Starting powernowd: required sysfs objects not found!
Read /usr/share/doc/powernowd/README.Debian for more information.
# lsmod |grep cpu
# modprobe cpufreq_userspace
# dpkg -i powernowd_0.96-2_i386.deb
Read /usr/share/doc/powernowd/README.Debian for more information.
# modprobe speedstep_centrino
FATAL: Error inserting speedstep_centrino
(/lib/modules/2.6.12-1-686/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/speedstep-centrino.ko):
No such device
(Of course, mine is an Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.40GHz,
I was just trying any command I could find.)
If my processor isn't supported, then the error message should say so.
# ls -a /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0
. ..
# mount|grep sys
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw)
Anyway, we see the advice in README.Debian is inadequate to get
powernowd working.
