The "correct" solution here is to upgrade libproxy to 0.4.7. The 0.3 release is no longer supported and the upstream resolution for this exact bug was to upgrade to 0.4. Additionally the upstream developers reported that they would not be fixing this (or any other) bug in 0.3.x
