Oh interesting…. I'm not sure whether this is a kernel bug or a resize2fs bug.
What version of the kernel are you using? And what architecture? x86_64?
i386?
Can you send me the output of:
a) file /usr/sbin/resize2fs
b) uname -a
c) strace resize2fs /dev/XXX
