Chromium has links in the interface (e.g. wrench->tools->extensions) that link to Google's Chrome (not chromium) extension/app store. That site is specifically against working with chromium and refuses to work without complex workarounds. It's very confusing to understand why such link have not simply been removed as it does not add any feature to the user, just confusion.
