patch fixed by simply reinstalling git 1.7.6.3-1 --- it is the version
of git being replaced that is relevant.
You are correct. Reinstalling 1.7.6.3-1 over 1.7.6.3-1 does reproduce
the problem.
The simplest workaround to
recover is to remove git and then install the new version (and then to
confirm the fix by reinstalling it).
Also correct. Removing git git-core git-man 1.7.6.3-1 and then
installing 1.7.7-1 seems to work fine.
No comment on the btrfs issue :-) but thanks for your help and support.
