When I add the Build-Dep, I also get these dependencies, but I don't
know how I can see if spell checking really works. I don't see any item
in the menu referring spell checking? Did you actually use it or how
does it work?

PS: I probably won't upload a fixed version before the previous has
entered testing or when I know how to fix the FTBFS on powerpc.
