Hi! Could we please get the trimmed down gnome-desktop-environment metapackage back? One without network-manager and avahi.
Currently, there's choice between having gnome but no networking more complex than DHCP, or no gnome. Trying to upgrade gnome manually results in a blank screen with blue vertical stripes that doesn't respond to anything but Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, or, with gnome-fallback, same screen with an inoperative menu. The packaging doesn't give a clue about what could be missing. Thus, even for a technical person who doesn't know gnome's insides, the metapackage is pretty useful. If it doesn't conflict with having networking, that is. -- 1KB // Yo momma uses IPv4! -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
