So, i managed to start gnome-session with --debug. In the attachment the
output.
No, xfce4-notifyd or notify-osd are not installed.
ps -Af | grep notifi | grep test gives:
test 8698 8683 0 20:31 ? 00:00:00
/usr/lib/notification-daemon/notification-daemon
test 8747 8683 0 20:31 ? 00:00:00
/usr/lib/gnome-disk-utility/gdu-notification-daemon
test 8750 8683 0 20:31 ? 00:00:00 update-notifier
(I'm using a test user so no old configurations are in the way)

Package: gnome
Version: 1:2.30+11
Severity: important
It takes about 30s after a GDM-Login until the Desktop is shown.
In the .xsession-errors, the two lines are interesting:
x-session-manager[16416]: WARNING: Application 'notification-daemon.desktop'
failed to register before timeout
x-session-manager[16416]: WARNING: Application
'polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1.desktop' failed to register before timeout
If I deactivate "Legitimationsdienst von PolyKit" und "Notification Deamon" in
"Startprogramme" the desktop is ready in about 1s
and the messages desapear.
I don't know where the Bug is, so I simply reported it for Gnome.
Could you run gnome-session with the --debug parameter, so we can get a
verbose log of what's going on.
Do you have other notification systems, like xfce4-notifyd or notify-osd
installed?
