I had the very same problem when doing an upgrade on 2011-10-21, which
included an update of lvm2 from 2.02.86-1 to 2.02.88-1:

lvm2 (2.02.88-1) wird eingerichtet ...
Neue Version der Konfigurationsdatei /etc/lvm/lvm.conf wird installiert ...
Neue Version der Konfigurationsdatei /etc/init.d/lvm2 wird installiert ...
Setting up LVM Volume GroupsFile descriptor 45 (/var/log/apt/history.log) 
leaked on vgscan invocation. Parent PID 855: /bin/sh
  Reading all physical volumes.  This may take a while...
  Found volume group "vg0" using metadata type lvm2
