  If it starts off-line is because network-manager (not the applet,
  that's just an interface) is telling claws-mail the network is
  offline. Have you checked your network-manager configuration?

  You can also try to run claws-mail --debug in a terminal and see
  which network-manager related messages are printed, that could give
  us some idea about what's happening. If you manage to do it please
  send them to me when replying this mail (and please keep bug number
  in Cc too).
