Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name : tigervnc Version : 1.1.0 Upstream Author : http://www.tigervnc.com/ * URL : http://www.tigervnc.com/ * License : GPL Programming Lang: C, C++ Description : High-speed Virtual Network Computing (VNC)
TigerVNC is a high-performance, platform-neutral implementation of VNC (Virtual Network Computing), a client/server application that allows users to launch and interact with graphical applications on remote machines. TigerVNC provides the levels of performance necessary to run 3D and video applications, and it attempts to maintain a common look and feel and re-use components, where possible, across the various platforms that it supports. TigerVNC also provides extensions for advanced authentication methods and TLS encryption. I am somewhat a heavy VNC user and I have been test-driving upstream's binary build with VirtualGL on the server side for more than a month now. I am so far extremely satisfied with its performance (was able to play HD youtube video remotely without any major slugishness, and use some opengl quite smoothly) and stability. It would be great to get tigervnc into Debian to replace aged alternatives.
