Further investigations at the weekend (maintainer and bug-reporter were in the same room) found that the actual error is: Error! CRCs do not match! Got 1a6cd7b3, expected 0 And running that jar directly as root worked OK. Running other java applications produced the same error. The reporter's machine is testing. However it works fine on my (stable) amd64 box. It appears to be the same issue as this bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=634089 Which is also blocking http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=649896 I'm not yet clear what the fix is, but it seems that it needs to happen in javatools. There has been no reported progress on this since September 4th. It apparently prevents any package packaged with javahelper from running on current amd64, so is quite serious (203 pakcages in testing build-dep on javahelper). Can someone explain what is needed to fix this?
