There's a workaround in libcurl for that problem now. The real problem is
that c-ares is not yet a full replacement for gethostby* functions (e.g. it
does not support multicast DNS) and enabling it in stock libcurl packages 
may not be a good move (note that these are words of the upstream author of 
both curl and c-ares, not mine).

Of course, enabling it in experimental only and asking for test may be a 
good move, but there are some other changes I'd like to do first.
