1) As you guess sessions schroots don't work because you always try to begin a 
session.

2) --add-depends is great if I want to add a dependency.  In my case
though I'm building a set of related packages triggered by buildbot
and I want to make previous build results available to other sbuild
invocations in the same environment.  It's undesirable for a number of
reasons to make the build available in a public repository until after all the 
builds complete.

Som reasons are implementation details like the build slave doesn't
have an appropriate signing key and some of them are policy (want to
confirm we have a consistent set of packages that work together before
releasing)
