Hello. I just restarted my machine, and the situation is the same as before.

In claws-mail, when I first open the program, I can't use ibus.
When I right-click on a text box and go to Input Methods, "System (Simple)" is selected.
If I change that to "X Input Method", then I can use ibus.
Does this mean I have misconfigured something somewhere?

Thanks!

Installed ibus-mozc.

Good.
Did you configure ibus from its GUI menu to ass mozc?

Yes.

It performs just like ibus-scim.

What is this evil package doing here. I do not see ibus-scim in my sid
choice.

My mistake (ibus-scim does not exist). I mean to say it performs just like ibus-anthy.

Both fail as
described below.
This is all in xfce4 on amd64, if that matters.
Is there any other information I can provide?

That is almost the same as me. xfce4 with many gnome apps is what I run here now. xfce terminal was not as good fior some feature. So I am not
using it.

I just tried gnome-terminal (didn't try it earlier), and ibus works properly in it.
